Hello Susie,
I hope you are prepared with everything ready - presents wrapped and under the tree, and all the decorations unearthed from their year-long hibernation to transform your home into a special wonderland.
|
|
Merry Christmas! I always love this time of year because it takes me back to my childhood when all the glitzy sparkle was rediscovered and we used to go for car rides through the centre of London and the parks just to see the Christmas lights.
|
|
That is exactly what I’ve been doing and it’s created much hilarity in our home, depending on your viewpoint... I think it’s like a special fairyland and other members of my family agree it could be called Santa’s grotto! |
My cats are a little bewildered, however, and want to climb up the garlands and the tree, especially as the lights really amuse them; they are led lights – pretty little filament lights which change colour. So at least they and I are happy!
This month, my featured article is Five Reasons to Keep a Gratitude Journal. The reason I thought of this is because it is the end of the year – a good time for reflection and making new commitments to oneself.

For the last several years I have been a contributing author to several journaling books. What I like about the books I have been involved with is that they have a brief 75 word inspirational thought for the day which sets you up for your day.
This latest offering is entitled My Journey My Journal and is available on Amazon. I thought that it may be a great idea for you to get this if you are keen on journaling. And, if you are new to the concept, it would be a good place to start!

In The SusieZone we take a more in-depth look at goals. This month I am focusing more on the New Year Resolutions that we all tend to make, and hopefully the strategy here will give you a better chance of continuing with your plan throughout the coming year. I hope you enjoy my article called Taking a Step-by-Step Approach to Writing Your Personal Goals.
I have a special Christmas and New Year gift for you at this time: Serenity - in the New Year. I hope you choose to take advantage of this gift. (Scroll down a bit to access it.)
I always endeavor to give you value, and that you consider this an online magazine – your personal ezine - which is equal to one of your favourite monthly “glossies” that you purchase from your local newsagent or newsstand. This is why I always try to make it as interesting and different for you to be able to dip in and out of.
Please feel free to introduce your friends to meet me here in our special shared space. Simply copy this URL - tiny.cc/NewsFromSusie - and paste it into an email to your friend(s) and invite them to join us!
For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your business and personal life, what problems you may be facing, and discover how I may help you. Schedule your appointment with me here.
My call to action - aside from scheduling a free session with me - is (for those of you who have yet to buy or are still wondering about My Journey My Journal) to go over to Amazon and have a look there. Click here for Amazon.uk or click here for Amazon.com.
And don't forget your copy of Serenity - in the New Year!!
Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, and, for now, sit back - favourite hot (or cold) drink in hand - and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.
Loving hugs,

Five Reasons to Keep a Gratitude Journal
by Susie Briscoe
|
I expect you've often been told to be thankful for what you have when something awful happens. Research has shown that being thankful is a beneficial habit.
Keeping a gratitude journal is an increasingly popular tool used by those seeking to improve themselves.
The 5 reasons to keep a gratitude journal are:
1) Changing Thought Patterns. Studies have shown a strong mind-body connection. When we are feeling stressed, anxious, or another negative emotion it can have a negative effect on our physical health. By considering those things, events or people you are thankful for you are creating positive thoughts and feelings which will help reduce stress levels.
|
|
It will also remind you that whatever happens to you there is always something to feel thankful for.
Your commitment to your gratitude journal refocuses your mind on positive events, conversations, and relationships. This enables you to see more than just those negative ones that tend to fill your mind and dominate your thoughts when they happen.
Another way your thought patterns will change is... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

Taking a Step-by-Step Approach to Writing Your Personal Goals |
All of us have goals and ambitions but many of us, unfortunately, find we don't reach them as quickly or as efficiently as we would like. Take New Years for instance as the perfect example: how many times have you heard people tell you their resolutions to lose weight, build muscle, or give up smoking… only to then give up on the idea only a few weeks later after they've started to find the whole thing too tiring. |
|
"Thank you so much Susie for the coaching last week. I have to tell you that everything has changed. After so many years being stuck and constantly being referred to psychologists - which never helped - just a small shift in thinking has made a huge difference. Last week I had my first ever facial at a beauty salon - knowing what you know you'll understand the significance of that! I have booked regular monthly appointments and feel a real sense of... freedom! Thank you."

"Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas." - Calvin Coolidge
~ Calvin Coolidge
John Calvin Coolidge (born July 4, 1872) was an American politician and the 30th President of the United States from 1923 to 1929.
|
A Republican lawyer from New England, born in Vermont, Coolidge worked his way up the ladder of Massachusetts state politics, eventually becoming governor. His response to the Boston Police Strike of 1919 thrust him into the national spotlight and gave him a reputation as a man of decisive action. Soon after, he was elected Vice President of the United States in 1920, and succeeded to the presidency upon the sudden death of Warren G. Harding in 1923. Elected in his own right in 1924, he gained a reputation as a small government conservative and also as a man who said very little, although having a rather dry sense of humor.
Born: 4 July 1872, Plymouth Notch, Vermont, Plymouth, Vermont, United States
Died: 5 January 1933, Northampton, Massachusetts, United States
Presidential term: 2 August 1923 – 4 March 1929
Party: Republican Party
Nicknames: Silent Cal, Cool Cal, The Sphinx of the Potomac, Cautious Cal
