Hello {!name_fix},

The problem as ever in the UK is the weather—which means you never know what to wear! Shorts and T-shirts do not work so well in the middle of a massive storm, and yet do you really want to go out with all weather gear when the sun is shining so brightly... forever a conundrum. Hope that you are enjoying brilliant weather wherever you are.

In this issue I'm thinking of ways to build your confidence and demonstrate to you how really great you are!

One of my mentors had encouraged me to find out what I thought of myself, as well as how I was seen by others. Today in my featured article I'm sharing with you an exercise created to show you how to go about doing this in a way that you may find enlightening and helpful. I remember being rather shy of asking for the feedback many years ago when I just asked peeps to write down 3 words they felt would describe me. I was so surprised by their answers—it was a complete eye-opener, and in a good way!

So I'm now showing you how to dig a little deeper, and go about it in a really positive way which will give you great insight and build your confidence. Let me know how you get on when you get your answers.

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing and discover what your solutions are. Please remember to click on my Skype link or email me (susie@susiebriscoe.com) to schedule a time.

Let me know your thoughts, but for now sit back, favourite mug of hot drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend. Loving hugs,

You Are Great!
by Susie Briscoe

One of the most well-known confidence building exercises is to list your own strengths and natural abilities.

By looking at the list, it can make you say, "Wow, I really am good!"

Another great way of building your confidence and getting in touch with how great you really are is to ask friends, colleagues and people who you know for feedback on your strengths and natural abilities.

Your practical assignment is to list 5 people who you know and trust for this exercise. Make sure they are from different areas of your life.

List them below:
1. A FAMILY MEMBER
2. A FRIEND
3. A WORK COLLEAGUE
4. AN ASSOCIATE
5. A SOCIAL CONTACT

You might at this stage be feeling a little nervous about asking these people for feedback. Don't worry, because you will be only asking for your strengths.

JUST GO FOR IT!

So, how do you go about it?

Well, below is a list of questions that I'd like you to ask to each person on your list.

I recommend that you meet or talk on the phone with each one beforehand. Explain the context of the exercise and either ask them verbally or give them the questions. Then have them fill out the sheet of paper or email you with their feedback.

They will feel honoured that you have asked them, and the feedback that you will receive will truly make you feel fabulous and full of confidence.

Rightly or wrongly, we live in a society where other peoples' opinions count to our self-esteem and confidence.

By completing this exercise, you will get some really good insight into some of your strengths.

Often you receive valuable information on the strengths that you didn't even know you had!

EXTERNAL FEEDBACK QUESTIONS
• What do you perceive to be my greatest strengths?
• What do you like most about me?
• What do you value most about me?
• What three words sum up the positive points about me?
• If you needed help with something, what would you call me to help you with?

After you have received all of the feedback, it is now time to reflect on what has been written or said:

How do you feel about it?

Are there any surprises?

Do you feel confident about your abilities?

How can you use this information going forward?

How can you maximise your strengths?

If these people think you have these strengths, so do a lot of other people as well—how does that make you feel?

What are the key insights you have learned?

What will you do now that is different to what you have done before?
My Riches
by Emily Tolman

Mine is the gold of sunset,
The glory of the dawn,
The splendid star that shines afar,
The dew-bejewelled lawn.

Mine are the pearls and opals
That fall from wayside spring,
The silvery notes from thrushes' throats
Through woodland aisles that ring.

Mine is the rare embroidery
Of lichen on the wall.
The airy grace of fair fern-lace.
Meet for a prince's hall.

Softer than Persian carpet
The moss beneath my feet,
In dewy dells, where floral bells
Toll out their perfume sweet.

Banks cannot hold my treasure;
It needs no lock nor key;
None 'neath the sky so rich as I,
Who hold the world in fee.
This is where I share my best mentors & resources with you; please take the time to look at each of these suggestions, as I personally find them all to be extremely helpful in my business life...

So happy to share with you some really interesting books I'm enjoying right now:

A couple of years ago, I read Bill Clinton's "Giving," and this has led me to find other titles in this genre.

I've just received my copy of "Philanthrocapitalism," by Matthew Bishop & Michael Green.

I'm really enjoying the way the author takes me through the new ideas around giving and how it is getting to be mainstream in the minds of people around the world. This book is ranked 126,077 on Amazon's best seller list.

At the same time, I chose "Giving is Good for You," by John Nickson and here we are taken through the change in attitude to the way we give and relating it back to the great Victorian philanthropists in the UK. This is ranked even higher, at 256,410 on Amazon best seller list.

"The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own."

- Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield

Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, KG, PC, FRS, (21 December 1804 - 19 April 1881) was a British Conservative politician, writer and aristocrat who twice served as Prime Minister.
