Hello {!name_fix},

Apologies already -- but this is not the sanguine Susie you are used to hearing from! I'm sure you have experienced the techie hell that is surrounding me at the moment, and I'm trying to walk my own talk throughout by using it as a learning and challenging experience. Please note I said 'trying'... basically that is a euphemism for not necessarily achieving!

I have been wresting my computer for the last 6 weeks at least... certainly for many weeks before Concombre came out of hibernation (have you noticed the landmarks that we all choose to use are so personal to us in terms of time?) and this is still the case. It crashed spectacularly and yet again reduced me to a quivering wreck. Immediately it reminds me of my technical shortcomings... however Dell in Bangalore have been wonderful... kudos especially to Sanjay, Ruben and Mathunna -- they even ask after Concombre by name now she is that famous! -- and then we have the joys of Microsoft! As long as the computer was cruising along all was well... but now that it's crashed, I have to replace all the software around Outlook as they no longer support it. Grrrr! I am so far out of my comfort zone as to be nearly hysterical... and yet... thank goodness for yogic breathing. This seems to be the only thing sustaining me.

So, I said I was using this as a learning and challenging experience. I usually like to have a process... just like a recipe for making a cake... that I go through -- especially when it comes to my ezine. Now however I'm having to create new ways of working which is stretching my tolerance levels. Am I happy? No! Am I proving that there are alternative ways of getting things done in a creative way... Oh yes! And when I've finished doubtless I will be triumphant... but just for now the emphasis is definitely more on the challenge.

So enough about my dis-AGGHHHHH-sters, darling! What are you using as a learning tool at the moment. Do share -- it may well be cathartic for you, and it would definitely make me feel less alone with my agony of technological discomfort. For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing and discover what your solutions are. Please remember to click on my Skype link or email me (susie@susiebriscoe.com) to schedule a time.

Let me know your thoughts, but for now sit back, favourite mug of hot drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Susie xx
What's In A Name?

Susan/Sue/Susie. How does it represent and define you?

When listening to a webinar the other day, I had an epiphany. The speaker was saying something which triggered me to go off on my own musings. It was around the subject of names; the titles we give to ourselves and things and the implicit interpretation this brings.

I was christened Susan -- a very straightforward name chosen by my mother, as she had taught a good little girl by that name, whom she liked, so thus it was settled: Susan. In Hebrew it means Lily and is representative of the lilies of the field and on learning this I immediately felt beautiful. However, it is a very sober sounding name befitting a good little girl... then I became a teenager. My generation were possibly in the front line of teenagers as our ancestors had been too engaged with the necessities of life, war and keeping body and soul together to enjoy the pleasures of youth. A hundred years earlier, 8 and 9 year old children had been sent out to work for the overall good of the family.

So, here I am a teenager. Susan is not a very teenage name I must have decided, and so I became Sue to my friends. Only my parents and extended family would call me Susan now. With the change of name came a change of attitude. Things that the good Susan would have found difficult to do were now a sure thing for me. Rebellious? -- certainly and as I reflect back I am amused by the silly things that teenage me thought were 'cool' and trust me, I'm not about to share any of them!! -- It would seriously dent my credibility -- but we've all been there as I'm sure you'll also recall.

The next stage of life was when I met Albert, the man I have been married to since 1970. Somehow, I sensed that Sue was no longer fitting me... and very self-consciously I became Susie. What do I mean by that? Well, I think it sounds softer, and more fun -- has a lighter touch maybe -- and I wanted to be this new person with my future husband. I didn't own the name to start with; I had to grow into it. Albert was the one who had initially called me that, and when he introduced me to his friends this was the name he used. Gradually, and certainly since marriage, I have become Susie.

It is remarkable looking back at the three stages of my life so far how each name has been fitting for the moment. The good child, the rebellious teenager, and the 'getting to be more mature' woman (and even after all these years, I don't really want to be that grown up! Each incarnation was/is real and each takes on its own personality.

The Susie I have grown into is allegedly mature, has a great sense of humour, and really likes to have fun whilst ensuring that contribution as a value is a very important part of my life. I now own my name in a very real way. Each part of my life has contributed to the me I am today -- the making of a real and complex person. Like me, you will have experienced this journey to a lesser or greater degree depending on where you are on life's journey.

I'm sharing these musings to see how you might interpret this in your own life. How relevant is this for you? What do you feel you have grown into, that has made you the person you have become? How are your thoughts limiting or growing yourself? I hope this will stimulate your own thinking... is this ringing any bells for you? Let me know how this triggered memories for you and what you are now able to do with them as a result of identifying the reasons, meanings and where they originate.

Please don't hesitate to call or Skype me if you'd like to explore this issue further.

Spring Royalty

Poem by Hector Iglesias Jr. © 2014. All rights reserved.

An easy breeze announces her approach;
New leaves respond with em'rald waves
While whispering, "She's here!"
Young hooves and paws grow still, ears twitch expectantly;
All caws, all chirps withheld for now--
She drifts over, around, and through her glistening domain.

With sunlight as her train, she strolls
O'er lively meadows, sighing softly
As her ivied feet touch fragrant soil.
Her songs are as a wond'ring brook, as rush of waterfall,
Accompanied by woodland flute inviting life to dance--
She drifts over, around, and through her glistening domain.

Her violet eyes acknowledging the wonders in a nest;
Then scan green hills where flowers bloom in fireworks display;
Her rose lips smile as hummingbirds and dragonflies flit by.
She gently kisses seasoned citizens
Whose brave persistence never ceases to amaze--
She drifts over, around, and through her glistening domain.

Susie: My interpretation on reading this poem is that the symbols of a flowering fruit tree in a meadow with young lambs and sheep are the symbols of your changing life. The flowers represent your experiences that transform from day-to-day, month-to-month and year-to-year. The fruits and animals are the insights you gain from engaging in relationship with the world.

Introducing Nicola Bird -- Founder of JigsawBox

I was just watching a webinar by Nicola. You may not have heard of her before. She's a "coaches' coach" who stays under the radar. Today she's running a seven-figure coaching business. And she was sharing the first time she "figured it out." How to really make this coaching business really click.

"I wasn't sure it was going to work," she said. But she tried it anyway. And in one day, she landed $24,000 in new coaching business... while watching her kids' swimming lessons at the local pool. She didn't even know about it until 7 o'clock that night...

When she sat down for her evening glass of red wine she logged into PayPal and realized she'd made more that month than her last two years. I couldn't help but smile and share in her success. Those first few years building a coaching business is tough. But when it pays off... it pays off.

I wanted to share what Nicola taught on that video and then she explained...

"Funny you should ask," she said. "I already showed a few people EXACTLY how I did it in a training webinar. I'm running another one in a few days."

It's right here...

"My first impression of coaching was certainly a lasting one! In just half an hour, my outlook on my career had shifted 180 degrees. My despondency from so many disappointments had started to dissipate, and I could feel excitement and enthusiasm creeping back in again. I have actions to take which will set me moving forward on achieving my goals. Thank you so much for helping me to begin to find my old self again -- I cannot wait for my next coaching session."
