Hello {!name_fix},

Two very exciting happenings to list from last week... firstly Concombre, our family tortoise who has been with us for the last 34 years has just decided to come out of hibernation -- she digs herself into the garden, having quickly realised that was a far safer bet than relying on me! Our newest arrivals to the family are the kittens -- now one year old and of course from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home -- had not met her before... this freaked them out and proved to be a hilarious occasion, as this seeming stone came out of the ground, and then proceeded to gently stroll about!... The second was us getting together with Mary Sue Powell, a distant cousin from Texas via Colorado, whom we met for the first time ever having been introduced by mutual friends on Facebook... how strange is that?

Mary Sue was visiting the UK researching her family roots, and shared our joint ancestry charts with us... It made fascinating reading and goes back to 1247 with named relatives, and even further to 1066, the Battle of Hastings, the Vikings, and William the Conqueror! Sir John & Lady Brisco's portraits were painted by Gainsborough (wow!) and her family are the proud owners of the portrait of Sir John... Very exciting!

In this week's issue I'm following on this theme of discovery and guiding you through the 10 top ways of leading by example. I share a photograph of the gorgeous David Gandy -- international male model for Armani -- and show you how you can join him in supporting this renowned and well loved animal shelter.

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing and discover what your solutions are. Please remember to click on my Skype link or email me (susie@susiebriscoe.com) to schedule a time.

Let me know your thoughts, but for now sit back, favourite mug of hot drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Susie xx
Top 10: Ways to Lead by Example

Good leaders must lead by example. Through their actions, which are aligned with what they say, they become a person others want to follow. When leaders say one thing but do another, they erode trust, a critical element of productive leadership. Here are 10 of the dozens of ways to lead by example.

1. Take responsibility. Blame costs you your credibility, keeps team members on the defensive and ultimately sabotages real growth.

2. Be truthful. Inaccurate representation affects everyone. Show that honesty really IS the best policy.

3. Be courageous. Walk through fire (a crisis) first. Take calculated risks that demonstrate commitment to a larger purpose.

4. Acknowledge failure. It makes it OK for your team to do the same and defines failure as part of the process of becoming extraordinary.

5. Be persistent. Try, try again. Go over, under or around any hurdles to show that obstacles don't define your company or team.

6. Create solutions. Don't dwell on problems; instead be the first to offer solutions and then ask your team for more.

7. Listen. Ask questions. Seek to understand. You'll receive valuable insights and set a tone that encourages healthy dialogue.

8. Delegate liberally. Encourage an atmosphere in which people can focus on their core strengths.

9. Take care of yourself. Exercise, don't overwork, take a break. A balanced team, mentally and physically, is a successful team. Model it, encourage it, support it!

10. Roll up your sleeves. Like Alexander the Great leading his men into battle, you'll inspire greatness in your company.

Please don't hesitate to call or Skype me if you'd like to explore this issue further.

I just feel I need to say that it has taken me years to find someone real enough and able to see things so clearly from an objective position. You have helped me so much to recognise and tap into my truth, and the positive changes are so apparent, which drives me on even further. Thank you so much for helping me to find the courage to make such powerful changes to my life. You are truly a very wise lady with phenomenal insight and awareness. By the way, my crystal is cloudy quartz with pieces of pyrite. I finally brought it home last week and it is so special. It's presence is undeniable!

If you need to know in advance that everything will "work out" before you jump in, you'll never jump into anything. Yet "jumping in" is life's greatest excitement, its grandest adventure. Don't deny yourself that. Just go for it. Trust that Life will bring you benefit no matter what happens.
