April 2019

A Note from Susie

Hello Susie,

April arrives like a lion and leaves like a lamb. So far so true!

This month I was honoured to attend the launch of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s International Academy!

This was a really fun evening, and Lara and Bassy were also invited which was really special as I was presenting the first International scholarship in my name.

This is what my colleagues at BDCH had deemed appropriate as my leaving present for serving for 27 years as a Trustee. I am so delighted I can barely speak as the Susie Briscoe International Scholarship will continue to be given in perpetuity and has therefore become another part of my living legacy, which will continue long after I am gone. Those of you who know me will immediately recognise the importance of this for me, as legacy is what it is all about. We all leave footprints in life, so it is good to consider them and make them worthwhile.

And, on another note, our tortoise emerges from her hibernation (today has been fun), more of which I’ll share with you in The SusieZone

This month's featured article is the first in a 3-part series about the power of Habit Forming, and, in The SusieZone, I offer you a free gift which is all about confidence and asks the question “Who Am I?” so I hope you will enjoy that.

I love getting your feedback; it also helps me understand what it is you are looking for and remind you here that one of your best decisions is to get your breakthrough session with me and discover what plans and habits you could be implementing this year going forward!

I always endeavor to give you value, and that you consider this an online magazine – your personal ezine - which is equal to one of your favourite monthly “glossies” that you purchase from your local newsagent or newsstand, which is why I always try to make it as interesting and different for you to be able to dip in and out of.

Please feel free to introduce your friends to meet me here in our special shared space. Simply copy this URL - tiny.cc/NewsFromSusie - and paste it into an email to your friend(s) and invite them to join us!

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute breakthrough consultation with me to discuss where you are in your business and personal life, what problems you may be facing, and discover how I may help you. Schedule your appointment with me here.

My call to action - aside from scheduling a free session with me - is to take a look at my website and see which of the resources would be the most help to you right now.

Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, and for now sit back - favourite hot (or cold) drink in hand - and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

One last thing, don't forget to claim your free e-book Who Am I? from The SusieZone. And, I hope you have all enjoyed your Easter holidays.

Loving hugs,

The Incredible Power of Habit Forming (Part 1)

by Susie Briscoe

Habits are what help us achieve great things in life. You won’t find a successful person who doesn’t have habits that have helped them accomplish what they needed to on their way to a goal. This 3-part series, 21-Day Habit Creation, can help you develop habits that will take you to your ultimate goal and beyond.

You might look at Olympians’ habits as grueling and so time-consuming – with no guarantee of winning the gold medal – that it seems like too much to bear for just a chance of winning.

But, the Olympians have passion for what they’re reaching for. Without passion for the habit you're trying to create, you'll have a much more difficult time reaching the finish line.

During the formation of a habit... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

The Susie Zone

My gift from The SusieZone this April is a confidence activity called Who Am I? which I hope you will enjoy completing. Click here for your free copy.

Let me know how you get on with it - lots to take on board.

Now, about the tortoise...

Our family tortoise has just come out of hibernation.

Her name is Concombre as she likes cucumber and she was given to Lara by her French exchange friend when she was 9 years old… quite a long time ago.

She took one look at her situation and decided the best chance she had for survival was to hibernate herself, so every year she digs herself deep into the ground… this is a picture of her emerging.

We have now just finished giving her a bath to rid her of all the earth and mud which was clinging to her, and then oiled her shell, so she’s feeling quite smart now.

Lara’s cat, Lola, always likes to lick the oil from her shell… not sure if she likes the taste or whether it’s a comment that we haven’t done a good enough job and she needs to continue with her ablutions to give Concombre the final diamond gloss!

What Others Are Saying

Thank you so much for the coaching last night. It was absolutely awesome!

I am really feeling the decisions I have made (with your guidance ;o) deep in the pit of my stomach and I am so excited!!!

I can see the potential of life coaching!

~  H.P., Hants

Quote of the Week

"Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That's why it's a comfort to go hand in hand.”

~ Emily Kimbrough

Emily Kimbrough (1899 - 1989) was an American author and journalist.

Emily Kimbrough was was born in Muncie, Indiana on October 23, 1899 and died February 10, 1989 at her home in Manhattan. In 1921 she graduated from Bryn Mawr College and went on a trip to Europe with her friend Cornelia Otis Skinner. The two friends co-authored the memoir Our Hearts Were Young and Gay based on their European adventures. The success of the book as a New York Times best seller led to Kimbrough and Skinner going to Hollywood to work on a script for the movie version. Kimbrough wrote about the experience in We Followed Our Hearts to Hollywood.

Kimbrough's journalistic career included an editor post at Fashions of the Hour, managing editorship at the Ladies Home Journal and a host of articles in Country LifeHouse & GardenTravelReader's Digest, Saturday Review of Literature and Parents magazines.

Kimbrough's Through Charley's Door (published 1952) is an autobiographical narrative of her experiences in Marshall Field's Advertising Bureau. Hired in November 1923 as the researcher and writer for the department store's quarterly catalogue, Fashions of the Hour, Kimbrough was later promoted to editor of the publication. In 1926, she was recruited by Barton Curry with Ladies' Home Journal, and left Marshall Field's to become Ladies' Home Journal's fashion editor, a position she held until 1929. Between 1929 and 1952, Kimbrough was a freelance writer, with articles published in The New Yorker and Atlantic Monthly among others. In 1952, she joined WCBS Radio.
