A Note from Susie

Hello Susie,

Those of you with beady eyes will have noticed that this ezine is a little on the late side; my apologies for that. However, I have had some terrible internet problems over the last month and I now hope that these have all been rectified. Fingers crossed. As you might have guessed from some of the pictures you can see, love is all around us… I’ll say no more for now.

This month, my featured article is Chapter 4 - Embrace Your New Beginnings, the last in the series, ‘A Fresh Start’, and The SusieZone will be featuring the oldest inhabited palace in the world. There is a massive clue in the picture alongside!

I would like to point out it was taken in the same room that HRH Prince Harry was christened, and he is seated on the same chaise lounge as his mother was seated for the formal pictures taken at his christening. More of that later.

I also have to bring you up-to-date about the new GDPR law that is in place since May 25th and remind you that security of your privacy and data is very important to me and I have updated the privacy policy we already have in place to ensure we are in compliance with this new legislation. Click here to view my privacy policy.

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing, and to discover how I may help you. To that end, I invite you to contact me via Skype (use my Skype i.d.: susie.briscoe) or email me to schedule a time to get together.

I always hope that you consider this an online magazine – your personal ezine - which is equal to one of your favourite monthly "glossies" that you purchase from your local newsagent or newsstand. This is why I always try to make it as interesting and different for you to be able to dip in and out of.

Please feel free to introduce your friends to meet me here in our special shared space. Simply copy this URL - tiny.cc/NewsFromSusie - and paste it into an email to your friend(s) and invite them to join us!

Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, but for now sit back, favorite hot (or cold) drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Making a Fresh Start: Embracing New Beginnings - Chapter 4, Enjoy Your New Beginnings

by Susie Briscoe

Take pride in the fact that you’ve taken the first steps in making positive changes in your life. Sometimes it’s difficult for people to accept change and realize that without it, none of us would ever grow.

Some parts of the world discourage change and have been living in the same way for thousands of years. If you can choose to change and have all the help and support you need to make it happen – consider yourself very fortunate.

Even though the changes we make or desire to happen are good for us, we still may approach them with doubt and trepidation. Keep in mind that each day you wake up as an entirely different person than the day before. You’re always changing – and you can choose how you accept the changes.

Here are some ways you can begin to... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

The Susie Zone

In this issue's The Susie Zone, I am thrilled to continue my series - Exploring Historic Palaces, Castles, Cathedrals, Churches, and Homes.

This is #5 in my series, in which we explore places where I have personal experience.

This time, as promised last month, we will be going to Windsor Castle, where love has been in the air.

This is the oldest inhabited castle in the world, and it is the one which, to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, feels the most like home.

During the war, whilst London was being blitzed with bombs on a nightly basis, The King and Queen, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later known on her husband’s death by the courtesy title of The Queen Mother), remained in London.

The picture below is of the Long Walk, through Windsor Great Park, leading up to the Castle’s private entrance. The Round Tower to the Left of the Castle is The Keep and is above the Lower Ward approached through the King Henry VIII Gate.

Windsor Castle

The reason I chose this picture is because it really shows you the size of the entire Castle complex in relation to the people and buildings around it. King George’s Chapel is seen on the extreme left hand side, just behind the square turret.

When a bomb actually fell on Buckingham Palace, the Queen Mother was renowned for saying that she now felt able to look the East End (of London, which took the majority of the bombs in London) people in the eye, as in the bombs had now been visited on her own home.

The two princesses, now our present Queen and her late sister, Princess Margaret, were sent to the relative safety of Windsor Castle; I feel that this is the reason why it feels so much like home, as so many formative years were spent there, bringing lots of happy family memories.

The wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was held on 19 May 2018 in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom and, as this has been so topical, I thought it a good idea to take a virtual look at this magnificent building where HM The Queen spends most of her time these days.

As you will now be aware, I’m sure, this is where Miss Meghan Markle was transformed into HRH The Duchess of Sussex, the Dukedom being bestowed upon her husband the morning of their marriage.

These two young people are making a Fresh Start together and are already demonstrating the positive changes they will make in the world.

Now you may well be asking, how is this... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

What Others Are Saying

Thanks for the coaching sessions so far they are really opening my eyes to what I want in life and not what others think I will be good at!

Quote of the Week

"There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved."

~ Mother Teresa

This picture goes so well with this month’s theme around Windsor Castle and love. This is Mother Teresa greeting HRH The Duke of Sussex’s late mother, Princess Diana, when Diana was in India.

Mother Teresa, known in the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta (born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Albanian: [aˈɲɛzə ˈɡɔndʒɛ bɔjaˈdʒiu]; 26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997), was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary.

She was born in Skopje (now the capital of the Republic of Macedonia), then part of the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. After living in Macedonia for eighteen years she moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived for most of her life.

In 1950, Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation which had over 4,500 sisters and was active in 133 countries in 2012. The congregation manages: homes for people dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy, and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children's - and family - counselling programmes; orphanages; and schools. Members, who take vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, also profess a fourth vow: to give "wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor".

Teresa received a number of honours, including the 1962 Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize and 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. She was canonised (recognised by the church as a saint) on 4 September 2016, and the anniversary of her death (5 September) is her feast day.

A controversial figure during her life and after her death, Teresa was admired by many for her charitable work. She was praised and criticised for her opposition to abortion and criticised for poor conditions in her houses for the dying. Her authorised biography was written by Navin Chawla and published in 1992, and she has been the subject of films and other books. On September 6, 2017, Teresa was named co-patron of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Calcutta, alongside St. Francis Xavier.

I am also happy to say that my friend and colleague, Father Xavier Alphonse, based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu – founder of the Community College movement throughout India –  spent some years working with Mother Teresa before starting on his own endeavours and shared some of his memories with me.
