Garden beauty

A Note from Susie

Hello Susie,

As I write, this is the hottest April day in 70 years here in the UK and we are all enjoying the sunshine. My garden is coming alive with daffodils, tulips, sentebale (better known as forget-me-nots), and the bright green shoots of the lily of the valley are filling one of my flower beds.

Everything is looking just gorgeous!

Now, the picture to the right is one of St. James Park with Whitehall buildings and the Horse Guards Parade Grounds in the background.

I was taken here many times as a small child as it was close to where we lived in London.

St. James Park

The big treat was to walk all around the lake, pictured to the left, and feed the many varieties of ducks and swans and then look out for the pelicans.

Before we came home I would have an ice-cream at the refreshment café by the entrance (if my Aunt Stella took me, which was usually the case)!

Before we get down to the contents of this month's ezine, I would also like to share with you that I was selected to be one of the 5 women highlighted on the World Wide Women site in their Buy From Women feature. I thought I’d share my interview with you... Click here to access the article.

I hope you enjoy the article; I was astonished to have been invited and delighted to accept!

Now, let's take a look at this month's ezine... My featured article is continuing the series, ‘A Fresh Start’, with Chapter 3 (How to Embrace New Beginnings) and The SusieZone will be featuring another London building which has an important connection for me. There is a massive clue in the picture of the lake in St. James Park as to which of the buildings we will be looking at in the SusieZone. Do you recognize it?

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing, and to discover how I may help you. To that end, I invite you to contact me via Skype (use my Skype i.d.: susie.briscoe) or email me to schedule a time to get together.

I always hope that you consider this an online magazine – your personal ezine - which is equal to one of your favourite monthly "glossies" that you purchase from your local newsagent or newsstand. This is why I always try to make it as interesting and different for you to be able to dip in and out of.

Please feel free to introduce your friends to meet me here in our special shared space. Simply copy this URL - tiny.cc/NewsFromSusie - and paste it into an email to your friend(s) and invite them to join us!

Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, but for now sit back, favorite hot (or cold) drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Making a Fresh Start: Embracing New Beginnings - Chapter 3, How to Embrace New Beginnings

by Susie Briscoe

Making changes in your life usually causes happiness and fulfillment, but many times change can cause other changes that catch you unaware.

When you make positive changes in your life, the “butterfly effect” is far reaching. For example, smokers who quit may find that they aren’t comfortable being around their old smoker friends anymore.

As you progress on your journey of change and to new and positive beginnings, you may have anxiety or doubts about whether you can keep up the effort that change most surely brings.

Some things you can do to ensure that you embrace, rather than fear change, include... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

The Susie Zone

In this issue's The Susie Zone, I am thrilled to continue my series - Exploring Historic Palaces, Castles, Cathedrals, Churches, and Homes.

This is #4 in my series in which we explore places where I have personal experience. Once again, we remain in London, at a familiar landmark: Buckingham Palace.

I hope you can see that the Royal Ensign is flying from the flagpole. This is personal to HM The Queen and only is raised to denote when Her Majesty is in residence.

Buckingham PalaceThe principal façade of Buckingham Palace, the East Front, was originally constructed by Edward Blore and completed in 1850. It was remodeled by Sir Aston Webb in 1913.

Now, you may very well be wondering why I would select this building at this time. Not only have I attended private receptions there, but I thought this month it would make a nice lead-in to the marriage of HRH Prince Harry to Miss Meghan Markle which is to take place next month, May 2018, at Windsor Castle.

Returning to my personal connection... I received an invitation from one of the charities I have been working with to attend an evening reception. Being in the middle of planning a big event at that moment I didn’t really give it too much thought, which makes me smile now.

At the end of the morning, I returned to the invitation to see whether I was free and to then write it in my diary. Yes, I was free, and it was only then that I realised... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

What Others Are Saying

Susie, it has been a pleasure to connect and work with you over the last few weeks.

I was not sure what to expect when I decided to participate in the program however I am very pleased that I did.

In my opinion, this is purely because of whom you are and the knowledge and skills you brought to the program.

Vernie Wilson

Your ability to manage each session with precision and freely sharing your experience and knowledge allowed me to see past where I was. I honestly have to say that you literally pulled me out of an emotional hole. I was stuck. I was especially impressed when you quickly offered up solutions and alternatives so that I can move forward.

Your expert guidance has given me new insights into my own self, abilities and the many possibilities that await my exploration.

Thank you for caring and for the wonderful support you gave.

Quote of the Week
Buddha as an avatar at Dwaraka Tirumala temple, Andhra Pradesh.

"Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail. Be the change you wish to see in the world. A dream is but a smile of the heart. The world finds hope in those who wish for a better life and have the courage to follow their star wherever it may lead. Look not outward but inward for the way is not in the sky but in the heart."

~ Buddha

Gautama Buddha (c. 563/480 – c. 483/400 BCE), also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, Shakyamuni Buddha or simply the Buddha, after the title of Buddha, was an ascetic (śramaṇa) and sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded. He is believed to have lived and taught mostly in the eastern part of ancient India some time between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.

Gautama taught a Middle Way between sensual indulgence and the severe asceticism found in the śramaṇa movement common in his region. He later taught throughout other regions of eastern India such as Magadha and Kosala.

Gautama is the primary figure in Buddhism. He is believed by Buddhists to be an enlightened teacher who attained full Buddhahood and shared his insights to help sentient beings end rebirth and suffering. Accounts of his life, discourses and monastic rules are believed by Buddhists to have been summarized after his death and memorized by his followers. Various collections of teachings attributed to him were passed down by oral tradition and first committed to writing about 400 years later.

In Vaishnava Hinduism, the historic Buddha is considered to be an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. Of the ten major avatars of Vishnu, Vaishnavites believe Gautama Buddha to be the ninth and most recent incarnation.
