Spring is around the corner!

Spring is right around the corner!

A Note from Susie

Hello Susie,

I don’t know what you’ve been up to, but over here it has been raining all the time. There are moments when the sun tries to break through, but the rain has been pretty much all-consuming as far as each day is concerned.

My daughter’s family have all been skiing in France, and today she skyped me to say that they had skied over to Switzerland for lunch! Here is a picture of Lara, their son Bassy, and Charles.

I love the idea of them traversing the mountains, bypassing invisible borders and going from country to country. How wonderful.

Skiing in France!

Lara, Bassy, and Charles

I well remember my own skiing activities back in the day and it makes me hunger for the mountains. But. since I broke my back in 2012, this is something that I agree to take medical advice on and to actually listen… for now, at least.

I guess it would be a good idea to give you an update on my book… did I already tell you that it has gone ‘breach in the birth canal’? My publisher has now said that the date for publication is May 8, 2018 - and is still threatening a forceps delivery or even a caesarean section! I just hope all this talk and excitement will have been worth the wait!

It makes me feel quite vulnerable knowing that what I have been working on for the last 18 months is going to be out there; however this is what I committed to do at the end of 2016, after my husband Albert died, and so complete it I must. To be fair, it is in its final edit now. More of that to come as the deadline draws near.

This month, my featured article is continuing the series Making A Fresh Start: Embracing New Beginnings with Chapter 1, The Fear of Change and in The SusieZone we will explore the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral, perhaps best known internationally of late as the place where HRH The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer.

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30-minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing, and to discover how I may help you. To that end, I invite you to contact me via Skype (use my Skype i.d.: susie.briscoe) or email me to schedule a time to get together.

I always hope that you consider this an online magazine – your personal ezine - which is equal to one of your favourite monthly glossies that you purchase from your local newsagent or newsstand. This is why I always try to make it as interesting and different for you to be able to dip in and out of.

Please feel free to introduce your friends to meet me here in our special shared space. Simply copy this URL - tiny.cc/NewsFromSusie - and paste it into an email to your friend(s) and invite them to join us!

Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, but for now sit back, favorite hot (or cold) drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Making a Fresh Start: Embracing New Beginnings - Chapter 1, The Fear of Change

by Susie Briscoe

There are certain times of the year when people are most concentrated on making changes in their lives. New Year, birthdays, wedding days, graduation, and other special days which tend to make us think about our future and what we could do to improve it.

Change can be both titillating and fearful. You might find it exciting to think about changing jobs to further your career or completely begin a new one – but you might also fear the unknown and begin to experience negative thoughts such as, “What if I can’t do it?,” “A new job will interrupt my routine,” and “What if I don’t like my coworkers or boss?”

Change ahead

Fear of change is fear of the unknown, but if you can get past the fears and focus on how certain changes can serve to make your life the best it can be, you’ll enter those life changes with positivity and enthusiasm.

What is Change – And Why Do We Fear It?

You can’t create new beginnings in your life without change. The definition of change is that you’re modifying your surroundings, condition, or situation in some way that is different from the present.

You likely have a preconceived notion of how your life and everything around it must work. When something happens that threatens to change that preconception, you may...  (Click here to access and read the full article.)

The Susie Zone

In this issue's The Susie Zone, I am so excited to continue my new series - Exploring Historic Palaces, Castles, Cathedrals, Churches, and Homes.

This is #2 in my series in which we explore places where I have personal experience. We remain in the city of London at a very familiar landmark:
St. Paul’s Cathedral, perhaps best known internationally of late as the place where HRH The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer.

St. Paul's Cathedral

Two days before their wedding I took my daughter Lara, and her French exchange buddy (they were 10 years old) to visit; this was the first time for them both. It was so wonderful because the choir and musicians were there rehearsing for the Royal Wedding throughout our visit.

We went all the way up to the very top – above the inside view from the Whispering Gallery – so that we could look out across London from the highest open air vantage point. I recovered from the dreadful experience of climbing the very tiny spiral iron staircase that took us right up the centre of the dome itself (not around the edge, but literally up through the middle with air and space all around us). It is not an experience for the faint-hearted!

Even the heavenly music could not take away the woozy feeling I experienced, however the young were totally unaware of this sensation. We did all sit quietly on our return journey through the Whispering Gallery to enjoy listening, first-hand, to the music we later heard during the actual Royal Wedding ceremony.

Before we get into the facts about this beautiful building, I would like to share with you... (Click here to access and read the full article.)
