A Note from Susie

Hello Susie,

So how are you feeling this last day of the second quarter of 2017? We’re coming up to wonderful long and lazy days on holiday with loved ones, and I’m wondering what you have planned?

It’s always good to hear from you and I appreciate your stories about what is important and happening in your life.

Holiday

I’m saving my own holiday until November this year, and combining it with a book retreat in Mexico. The best news is that my daughter will be coming with me, so more of that later in the year. As I’ve said before, my book is due to be published in October, and the trip to the Pacific coastal side of Mexico is to partly celebrate, along with other best-selling authors, the success of previous books, and to see how my own book is faring in these competitive genres:  self-improvement, personal development, legacy building, philanthropy, and altruism.

We continue with the chakra theme, in the Susie Zone, entitled: Opening Your Heart Chakra, and Yoga for Chakra Work and my featured article is about Getting Inspired!

For now, I would like to remind you that you have the opportunity of a free 30- minute consultation with me to discuss where you are in your life, what problems you may be facing and discover how I may help you. Please remember to click on my Skype link or email me (tiny.cc/schedulewithsusie) to schedule a time to get together.

Once again, let me know your thoughts as I always enjoy hearing from you, but for now sit back, favourite hot drink in hand, and settle down for a comfortable chat with a friend.

Loving hugs,

Five Effective Ways to Get Inspiration

by Susie Briscoe

Lost for inspiration? Here are five techniques you can use to try and coax something new and exciting out of your brain! They won’t always work, but give them a go, and you might just be surprised.

Go for a Walk

Walks are inspiring for a number of reasons. For starters, they allow us to take a break from what we’re doing and to change our environment.

Get inspired!

In turn, this leads to new input that can help us to gain new perspective on whatever problem or task we’re wrestling with.

At the same time, walking is a monotonous task that allows our default mode network to kick in. This, essentially, means that we’re daydreaming, which is, often, a source of great inspiration.

Ask the Right Questions

Sometimes, inspiration is just about asking the right questions, which can help to... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

The Susie Zone

In this issue's The Susie Zone, we carry on with our chakra work with Transform Your Life Through Chakra Work: Continuing an Introduction to Your Chakras. This month, I am pleased to offer you Opening Your Heart Chakra (including Yoga for Chakra Work).

The heart chakra is actually one of the hardest chakras to open, for a number of reasons.

Heart chakra

The good news is that if you master opening this chakra, you will be able to harness powerful energies that can transform your body, mind and spirit

The heart chakra is the lowest of the 4 higher chakras. In Hindu and Buddhist thought, amongst others, it is the seat of our soul. The 7 chakras are all connected by a white central channel that is located just in front of the spine. At the level of the heart chakra is the indestructible drop, that is, a small energy ball both red and white. Our root mind or soul resides in that drop.

Hinduism, Buddhism, and other spiritual schools of thought posit reincarnation, that is, that after death in this lifetime, the soul comes back for countless lifetimes. At the moment of death, the drop at the heart chakra will open and our root mind will go to another host in the same way that we would move from one house to the next. Great meditators and yogis meditate in order to open the heart chakra so they can choose their next life.

Even if we do not believe in reincarnation, heart chakra work is very useful because... (Click here to access and read the full article.)

What Others Are Saying

Coaching really does work - just not sure why, but it's amazing. Thank you again for listening and helping. I like the way you coach. It's honest, challenging and totally effective. I intend to learn lots from you if that's OK!

Quote of the Week
Naomi Judd

I looked around for a good inspirational quote for you this month and found this rather ironic one, which I hope will not only inspire but also amuse you for its most obvious and pithy observation!

"A dead-end street is a good place to turn around."

~ Naomi Judd

(Naomi Judd is an American country music singer, songwriter, actress, and activist.)

Personal life

She was born Diana Ellen Judd to Charles Glen Judd and Pauline (née Oliver) Judd on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Kentucky. Her father owned a gas station; her mother was a housewife and later became a riverboat cook. Her first child, Christina Ciminella (later Wynonna Judd), was born when she was 18. After the birth of her daughter Ashley (April 1968), who later became a film and stage actress, and the end of her marriage to Michael Ciminella, Judd brought up both daughters as a single parent, first attending nursing school at the College of Marin, in California, and later beginning a successful singing career with daughter Wynonna.

Her second marriage was on May 6, 1989, to Larry Strickland of the Palmetto State Quartet.

Activist, author, motivational speaker, and actress

In 1991, after selling more than 20 million albums and videos in seven years and at the pinnacle of their career, the Judds' reign came to an abrupt end when Judd was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a potentially fatal chronic liver disease that forced her into retirement. The band ended on a high note when their farewell tour was the top grossing act and their farewell concert was the most successful musical event in cable pay-per-view history.

In 1991, Judd created the Naomi Judd Education and Research Fund to raise awareness of Hepatitis C, and uses the strength of her own experiences as spokesperson for the American Liver Foundation.

In 1999, Judd starred as Lily Waite alongside Andy Griffith and Gerald McRaney in the film A Holiday Romance. One of her first acting jobs was a small role (Girl on the Bus) in More American Graffiti in 1979.

Judd and her daughter Wynonna came together for a New Year's Eve concert in Phoenix in December 1999 at the America West Arena, with Ashley as the MC.

In 2000, the Judds embarked on their "Power to Change" tour and performed to over 300,000 people on some thirty dates. The duo was nominated as the Academy of Country Music's top vocal duo of the year in 2001.

In November 2005, Judd began hosting Naomi's New Morning, a talk show that aired on Sunday mornings on the Hallmark Channel. The show lasted two seasons. She is also the author of several self-help books including the recent Naomi's Guide to Aging Gratefully: Facts, Myths, and Good News for Boomers.

In 2008, Judd joined a new television reality-competition series Can You Duet, as a judge and mentor. The show, by the producers of American Idol, aired on Country Music Television.

In 2011, Judd starred alongside actress Laura Prepon in the Lifetime television movie The Killing Game.

In 2014, she starred as "Honey" in An Evergreen Christmas.

Judd is competing with her husband in the FOX reality cooking series My Kitchen Rules.
